Comments: 40¢ rate to Great Britain (from 1855). Stamp shows the private perforation style (done on the imperforate stamps) known as "Percés en Lignes". Cancelled with a "D" in Lozenge. Private perforating agents were condoned by the postal authorities, but in many cases have never been identified. The variations in centering and perforation quality on these private perforation stamps are considerable. Ceres Specialized Catalogues this cover in VF condition @ 365 Euro = $575 USD.

Nice foreign cover to England cancelled with Paris 20 June 1862 Department D petit cachet à date cds and single struck "D" in lozenge on stamp tying it to cover. Also a red Boxed "PD" meaning paid to destination and a red London Paid receiving mark. Centering and cancels as shown. No contents.
