French American Direct Mail Treaty with ships from Le Havre to New York had a rate of 80 centimes or 15¢, with 3¢ (16 centimes) allocated each to France and the United States for their respective inland postage and 9¢ (48 centimes) allocated to the maritime transport by either US or French mail pacquets. Exchange rate under treaty was 1¢= 5⅓ centimes.
