Great Britain 6 Pence Lilac 1856 Issue on 1858 Trans-Atlantic packet cover from Exeter, England to Burford, Canada West (Ontario). Very nice stamp, uncommon Montreal accountancy marks, Unusual Green double struck Burford Receiving Marks.

The general Trans-Atlantic Packet rate from England to Canada at this time was 6d for a standard weight letter (up to ½ ounce). Of this sum was allocated as 2½¢ local currency (1d) due Canada for its inland carriage.
