Great Britain (pair) 4 Penny Vermillion 1865 Issue, Scarce Plate #12, on 1873 Cross Channel packet cover from Liverpool, England to Patras, Greece. Very Fine Cover "via Brindisi" Italy with Corfu Transit cancel and Patras Receiving Mark. A beautiful example of Route 3A Via France and Italy, via Brindisi and Corfu to Patras with the correct 8d rate. Interestingly Moubray indicates that the Brindisi route was suspended in 1873.We are not certain what the blue Greek manuscript note indicates.
