STAMPLESS COVERS OF SWEDEN

SWEDEN – 1843 Stockholm to London via Helsingborg and Hamburg

Front:  Stockholm Black Circle CDS Canx dated 22 December 1843 (Normal Canx 10 Type 5? - early for this), script lower left "Bit Helsingborg" and "Franco Hamburg" means to be sent via Helsingborg and paid to Hamburg. Script "1n8" is British charge of 1 shilling and 8 pence to be collected from addressee for the ship cost (8pence) and the inland delivery in England (1 shilling).  Red Hamburg Transit canx  "T 30 Jun" in circle Type T1 [used in lieu of Hamburg butterfly canx] which showed that this was a transit letter and was due the 1n8 (in ms) or 1 shilling 8 pence due for carriage from Hamburg to London. Script "29" is likely charter number and 10d in script upper left is perhaps an accountancy note for Hamburg's portion of English rate.
Reverse: Very faint black boxed K.S.&N.P.C./HAMBURG/29 DEC. 43 canx and Red London Circle 2 January 1844 Receiving Mark
Notes: From the Huth Correspondence.  The Red "T" in circle was only in use from 1841 to 1847 and was only used on letters from Sweden to Great Britain that were transferred from the Swedish Post Office in Hamburg to the Stadtpost for forwarding.
Condition: Very Fine condition.
Contents:  No Contents.

Catalogue value: - Stockholm canx 150SEK + British Letter 250SEK + KSNPC canx 200SEK + Red "T" 200 SEK,
