Notes: Nice usage of US#36 Pair 24˘ on cover to New Ross, Ireland paying the Trans-Atlantic Rate to Great Britain. Arnell (Atlantic Mails) lists the "Arabia" as leaving from Boston on March 23, 1859, stopping in Halifax on March 25th and arriving at Liverpool on April 3rd. It is possible that this letter was then sent across the Irish Sea to Dublin for April 4th and New Ross on April 5th. But there is no Liverpool receiving mark and it is also possible that the packet was met by a coastal mailboat from Dublin as it passed on its way to Liverpool. It is to be presumed that this letter travelled from New York by rail to Boston in time to catch the "Arabia".
Condition: Very Fine Tran-Atlantic cover to scarce Irish location.
Contents: Envelope only, no contents. Addressed to Samuel Kough, Esq, New Ross, Ireland on printed envelope.
