Notes: From the Moses Brown Correspondence. A letter written on Christmas Day 1793 wherein Captain Stephen Holland, master of one of Brown's ships, complains of being detained in "Havannah" by the "Intendent" [local governor] and unable to get permission to load with molasses and leave. He is particularly vexed by the fact that it is the "holidays" and nothing can be done with the governing officials. When he does get his permission however he states that molasses is plentiful and he will load and set sail for home. A very nice 18th Century Ship Letter from Havana to Newbury Port (on the Mass/NH border) at the mouth of the Merrimack River.
Condition:  Very Fine with some staining and usual file folds.
Contents: In English dateline December 25th 1793, Havana Cuba. Entertaining account of being stuck in Havana for the holidays.
